Our Story

Edinburgh Documentary Films was founded by Thomas Hogben and Kieran Hennigan, two filmmakers who share a hands-on, practical approach to filmmaking. What started as a creative partnership soon turned into a company built on trust, collaboration, and a determination to bring great stories to life. Today, with a strong in-house team and years of industry experience, they continue to make films that are engaging and visually striking.
Among the many roles he takes on, Kieran serves as Executive Producer on our films for The One Show (BBC One), overseeing the production of high-quality documentaries for a national audience. He works closely with multiple broadcasters and distributors – both in the UK and abroad. He also produces and hosts a hit podcast. Connect with him on Linkedin here.
Thomas has built a career as a cinematographer and producer, working across a wide range of factual content for major broadcasters and independent productions. With a strong background in visual storytelling, he brings a cinematic eye to every project, ensuring that each film looks as good as it can. His ability to merge technical expertise with creative intuition has made him a sought-after figure in the industry, with credits including Outlander, Teeth, and My Son.
